Closed-end solid brass caps for furniture legs and armrests
Solid brass, sleeved over the end of a chair leg, table leg, bench foot or armrest — closed at one end so the cut wood is fully capped. These are machined from a single brass billet (not plated, not a hollow shell), satin-brushed on the outside and left as-machined inside. A small pilot hole in the closed face lets you lock the cap down with a nail or wood screw, or you can simply glue it on.
Why solid brass
- Solid brass, non-plated — one solid piece of brass, satin brushed; it will not chip, flake or expose a base metal when knocked.
- Closed end seals the wood — the capped end hides and protects the raw cut of the leg or armrest from moisture, scuffs and splitting.
- Nail or glue to fix — a pilot hole in the face takes a small nail or wood screw; a drop of wood glue also holds it permanently.
- Size by the inner dimensions — your leg or armrest OUTER dimensions must equal the cap’s INNER dimensions (inner = outer − 2 × wall per side).
- 10 stock sizes — oval and rounded-rectangle profiles, outer lengths 50–81 mm.
- Custom-made — made to order in any shape, size and wall thickness.
A finish that ages into something better
Unlacquered solid brass develops a warm patina over time — a character mark prized in mid-century and New-Chinese interiors. Prefer the bright look? A soft cloth and a little brass polish brings the shine back in seconds. Because the finish is unsealed, expect gentle aging.
How to choose your size — always by the INNER dimensions
Measure the OUTER dimensions (length × width) of the leg or armrest you are capping. Pick the cap whose INNER dimensions match: Inner = Outer − 2 × wall on each side. For a 60×34 mm leg with a 2.0 mm wall you need the 56×30 mm inner size. A snug slip-on fit needs no tool; for a permanent hold, drive a small nail or wood screw through the pilot hole, or add a dab of wood glue.
Size (outer L × W × height × wall) mm
| Size (outer L × W × H × wall) mm | Inner L × W (mm) | Height (mm) | Wall (mm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 60 × 34 × 17 × 2.0 | 56 × 30 | 17 | 2.0 |
| 60 × 40 × 20 × 1.5 | 57 × 37 | 20 | 1.5 |
| 50 × 40 × 30 × 1.5 | 47 × 37 | 30 | 1.5 |
| 64 × 40 × 30 × 2.0 | 60 × 36 | 30 | 2.0 |
| 70 × 40 × 40 × 2.2 | 66 × 36 | 40 | 2.2 |

FAQ
- How do I fix the cap? Slip it over the leg; then either drive a small nail or wood screw through the pilot hole in the face, or apply a dab of wood glue. Both give a permanent hold.
- What does “inner = outer − 2 × wall” mean? The cap walls take 2 × wall off each dimension, so a leg’s outer size must match the cap’s inner size.
- Is the brass plated? No — it is solid brass throughout, so it can be polished or left to patinate.
