Description
Solid brass decorative nails for furniture, upholstery and leather
These are round-head decorative nails (often called upholstery tacks or nailhead trim nails) made from solid brass — not plated, not hollow. The domed head sits proud of the surface for a classic furniture-trim look, the smooth shank drives in clean, and the sharp point starts without splitting thin wood or leather. Use them to restore an old cabinet, trim a headboard, lay out a sunburst pattern, or finish a leather project.
Why solid brass
- Solid brass, not plated — the dome keeps its color and won’t chip or flake like a thin coating would.
- Two finishes — Natural Brass (bright, polished gold tone) and Antique Brass (darkened, bronze-toned patina look). Both are bare, unsealed solid brass.
- Clean dome head — even, rounded cap reads as intentional hardware, not a utility brad.
- Smooth shank, sharp point — hammers in straight, less risk of splitting.
- 23 sizes in stock — shank Ø from 1.2 mm to 2.8 mm, length 8–55 mm.
- Sold by the pack — 20 to 100 pieces per pack depending on size (see each variant).
Two finishes
Natural Brass is the bright, polished gold tone straight from the mill. Antique Brass is the same solid brass with a darker, bronze-toned surface treatment for a worn, traditional look. Both are solid brass through and through and are supplied unsealed, so they age naturally.
How to choose your size
Pick by the two numbers that matter in use:
- Nail length — how deep the nail goes. Match it to your material thickness (e.g. 10 mm for thin trim, 30–55 mm for thick upholstery frames or deep wood).
- Shank Ø (gauge) — the thickness of the stem. 1.2 mm is delicate, 2.8 mm is substantial.
- Head Ø — the visible decorative cap (2.5–6 mm). Head Ø tracks shank Ø: 1.2 mm shank → 2.5 mm head, 1.5 → 3, 2 → 4, 2.8 → 6.

Care
Both finishes are bare solid brass and will slowly warm or deepen in tone over time — that is the metal aging, not damage. Natural Brass can be brought back to bright with a brass polish; Antique Brass is supplied with a darker surface and is best left as-is to keep the look. Keep dry; for outdoor or high-humidity use, a clear lacquer extends the finish.
