Description
Solid brass, open at both ends, no bottom — these round ferrules slip straight over round furniture legs and turn a bare wooden foot into a finished one.
Every cap is machined from solid brass bar with a 1.5 mm wall — not plated, not a hollow zinc shell with a brass look. The brushed finish shows fine, even grain, and the weight tells the rest of the story: the smallest 20×20 mm size already feels substantial at ~15 g, and the deep 50×50 mm reaches ~97 g.
Inside, the tube is left open all the way through, so air circulates and moisture never gets trapped against the leg.
Why solid brass
- Solid brass, not plated — machined from solid brass bar with a 1.5 mm wall, brass all the way through. No plating to flake, chip or peel.
- Open at both ends — a straight-through tube. The leg slides in, nothing has to be trimmed to length, and the wooden tip stays in contact with the floor.
- No trapped moisture — because the bore runs clear through, air moves freely and damp cannot sit against the end grain, which is where bare wood goes first.
- Protects the leg, not replaces it — the brass takes the scuffs and knocks instead of your timber, and turns a worn or chipped foot into a finished detail.
- 34 sizes in stock — inner Ø 14–77 mm, heights 20–60 mm, so most straight round legs are covered.
- No visible fixings — it slides on and is held with glue. No screws to see, no hardware to line up.
A finish that ages into something better
Left unlacquered, every ferrule develops its own patina. In the first weeks the bright gold warms to a soft honey tone, then deepens over the months into the mellow antique bronze collectors love — never dull, never flaking, just richer with time. It is the opposite of plated hardware that chips and peels. Prefer the original look? A quick rub with a soft cloth and a little brass polish brings the gleam straight back. The patina is entirely yours to keep or reset.
How to choose your size
Measure the outer diameter of your furniture leg, then pick the size whose inner diameter matches it — the leg slides inside the tube. Inner diameters run from 14 mm to 77 mm across 34 sizes; heights range from 20 mm to 60 mm. If you are between sizes or have a custom leg profile, message us — custom diameters and heights are available.
To fit, simply slip the ferrule over the end of the leg — the snug 1.5 mm wall grips it in place. For a permanent, rock-solid fit on chairs and daily-use pieces, add a dab of wood glue or two-part epoxy before sliding it on.

FAQ
- Do I have to cut the leg? No. Both ends are open, so the leg passes straight through and nothing has to be trimmed. Slide the ferrule on, check that it sits square, then glue it in place.
- Which diameter do I order? Always by the INNER diameter. Measure the outer diameter of your leg — the leg slides inside the tube, so the inner diameter has to match the wood.
- Will it stay on without glue? The snug wall grips a true-to-size leg, but for chairs and any daily-use piece add a dab of wood glue or two-part epoxy before sliding it on. That is what makes it permanent.
- Round legs or tapered? These are for straight cylindrical legs. For a leg that narrows towards the floor, use our tapered open-end ferrules, or browse all brass leg caps.
- Will the brass tarnish? Yes, naturally, deepening to a warm antique tone. That is normal and reversible: polish and the shine returns. We leave it unsealed so the patina can develop.
