Description

Solid brass screw caps that turn an exposed screw into a finished detail

These two-piece brass caps cover the head of a screw and leave a clean, decorative button on the surface. Each cap threads onto a brass collar that sits under the screw head, so the fixing stays tight while the cap hides it. Use them on furniture panels, mirror frames, cabinet backs, sign boards and built-in joinery — anywhere a screw head should disappear. Sold as a pack of eight with matching screws.

Why solid brass

  • Solid brass, not plated plastic — the cap and collar are brass through and through; the colour is the metal, not a coating.
  • Two finishes — Natural Brass (bright polished gold) and Antique Brass (darkened bronze tone).
  • Two-piece cover — the collar takes the screw, the cap threads over it for a flush, finished look.
  • Round or flat cap — a domed button or a low flat disc, depending on the look you want.
  • Nine size and fixing combinations — 9–15 mm caps with self-tapping, M4 or M5 screws.
  • Pack of 8 — enough for a small panel, mirror frame or cabinet run.

Round dome or flat cap?

The round cap has a domed top that stands slightly proud of the surface and catches light like a small brass button. The flat cap sits lower and reads as a flush disc, which suits minimal furniture and panels where you want the fixing to almost disappear. Both use the same two-piece collar-and-cap construction.

Choose the right screw for your fixing

The cap and collar are the same; the screw changes with the material you are fixing into.

  • Self-tapping — a wood screw with a sharp point for timber, MDF and soft panels. Sizes: 3 × 15 mm (9 mm cap) or 4 × 25 mm (12–15 mm caps).
  • M4 machine screw — a blunt threaded screw for pre-tapped holes, threaded inserts or metal brackets. 25 mm long.
  • M5 machine screw — the larger machine thread for heavier panels and metal frames. 25 mm long.

If you are fixing into wood, choose self-tapping. If the hole is already threaded or you are using an insert, choose M4 or M5.

Where they work

Furniture panels and drawer fronts · Mirror frames and glass clamps · Cabinet backs and side panels · Sign boards and display stands · Built-in joinery · Bed frames and headboards · DIY and restoration projects.

Installation

Drill a pilot hole, pass the screw through the brass collar and drive it into the panel until the collar sits flat. Then thread the cap onto the collar and hand-tighten. For M4 or M5 fixings, use a pre-tapped hole or a threaded insert; for wood, use the self-tapping screw. Do not overtighten the cap — it only needs to sit flush.

Specifications

Material: solid brass cap and collar · Fixing: self-tapping wood screw, M4 or M5 machine screw · Cap Ø: 9 / 12 / 13 / 15 mm · Cap height: 4.6–5.6 mm · Washer OD: 7.6–11.5 mm · Finishes: Natural Brass, Antique Brass · Pack: 8 pieces.

Care

Both finishes are bare brass. Natural Brass will slowly warm and darken with handling; Antique Brass is supplied with a darker surface. A brass polish brings Natural Brass back to bright. Keep dry; for outdoor or humid use, a clear lacquer extends the finish.

FAQ

  • What are these used for? Covering exposed screw heads on furniture, mirrors, panels and signage so the fixing looks like a decorative brass button.
  • Do the caps come with screws? Yes — each pack includes 8 caps, 8 collars and 8 matching screws.
  • Self-tapping or machine screw? Self-tapping for wood and soft panels; M4 or M5 for pre-threaded holes, inserts or metal.
