A nameplate made to be kept
Some objects deserve a name. A solid brass plate sits quietly beside the things that matter — a collectible, a keepsake, a specimen, a memorial, or something you made yourself. Each one is hand-hammered, then laser-engraved with your own words. The hammered surface catches the light unevenly, so no two plates are ever the same; yours is one of one.
This is the page to read before you order: it covers the three shapes, the size range, and how engraving works, so you get exactly the plate you’re picturing.
Why solid brass
The plate is 1.2 mm thick solid brass — substantial, with the warm gold tone only real metal carries. It won’t flake like a coated tag, and it ages gracefully if you let it. For something meant to last generations, that’s the point.
Three shapes
- Rectangle — the classic nameplate proportion. Clean, formal, reads as “labeled.”
- Capsule — rounded ends, softer and more modern.
- Chamfered ends — angled corners, a furniture-and-instrument feel.
All three are available across the size range below; shape is purely aesthetic, so pick what suits the object it will sit on.
Size range
Plates run from 50 × 14 mm up to 80 × 18 mm (length × width). The smaller sizes suit a specimen jar, a tool, or a small keepsake; the larger sizes suit a memorial plaque or a prominent collectible. If you’re unsure, measure the surface the plate will rest on and leave a few millimetres of margin all round.
Engraving
Your text is laser-engraved after hammering, so the letters sit cleanly in the faceted surface. Keep wording short — a name, a date, a few words — so it stays legible at the plate’s scale. Because each plate is made to order, there’s no stock design to conform to; the words are yours.
Pairing with other brass
A nameplate often sits alongside other brass details. Our hammered cabinet knobs share the same hand-hammered language, so a restored cabinet can carry matching accents from base to nameplate.
